COLOMBIA review
We had a great experience participating at FITB 2010
Thanks to the organisation especially, Anamarta de Pizarro, Ella Fuksbrauner, Manuel José Álverez, Aidda, Camilo Gotierrez and all the volunteers from Bogota and Villavicencio who helped us a lot.
Bogota. The first performance of Pi-Leau was at Parque el Tunal in
Actually a strange location to perform a show about the sea level that is rising on a height of
From the two days of building up, light checks and rehearsals we lost one day because the container couldn’t arrive on time; it was in the city but where????.
At last the technicians from
The park was a quiet place for building up. In the evening the park was closed and totally empty so the building up and rehearsals went smoothly.
The first performance day was quit a surprise.
There was so many police standing around for protection, we couldn’t believe this would be necessary. We still can’t, because the audience was magnificent.
This first performing day it started to rain very heavy so there was not so many audience as expected. For the performance Pi-Leau rain is no problem but the technique was not build for this rain. First a few lights fellt out we couldn’t use the follow spots and at the end the water was pouring in the F.O.H. We had to cancel the first performance.
The next day the tension was higher and the audience came with thousands and we had a great performance! The audience was astonishing. They loved it and we had such a fun to perform there. After the performance we really noticed how much they liked Pi-Leau. The reactions were great and the DVD’s were sold out in a minute!
We offered a discount to the Colombian audience and the next day also the last caps were finished.
The money will be used for a theatre exchange project in
We will go back to develop this together with festival Mundial Tilburg.
First thing we’ll do is get the Colombian Stilt Group Exodus “which we saw on the festival” over to
We performed there under and around a huge tree! A pity that we only performed one night. The audience was not used to bigger street theatre spectacles. They liked Pi-Leau a lot. Merchandise totally sold-out!
Everything went very well if you forget the things which were stolen although there was a lot of security!
It is a beautiful country and very very nice people but you have to take care of all your stuff! At the other hand we never felt one moment threatens during our stay of 2 weeks.
